Snorkelling & Diving
Another world, right in front of your villa.

Colourful reefs right off your own jetty, turtles within arm's reach, and with a bit of luck even whale sharks – the Maldives are as beautiful underwater as they are above the surface.

One of the most species-rich marine areas in the world

The Maldives consist of 26 atolls and over 1,000 islands – including hundreds of living coral reefs. Snorkellers and divers encounter Napoleon wrasse, reef sharks, manta rays, turtles and, in the right season, whale sharks.

Many resorts sit right on the house reef. That means: mask on, fins on, jump in – and you're in the middle of the reef.

For beginners and experienced divers

Even without a diving certificate, you experience things underwater in the Maldives that elsewhere you only see in documentaries. For beginners, snorkelling at the house reef is ideal. Experienced divers get their money's worth drifting through deep channels or on night dives.

Best time for whale sharks & mantas

Whale sharks are most reliably seen from December to March in South Ari Atoll. Manta rays are especially common in Baa Atoll from June to November. We plan your trip to match the best season for your desired encounter.

In South Ari Atoll, sightings are possible year-round, with peak season Dec–Mar.

No boat needed – just jump in the water and marvel.

For non-divers

Snorkelling is possible at every level and spectacular even in shallow water.
